Get That Delicious Popsicle Lip Tutorial

Friends often ask me why their popsicle look isn't as nice as mine, so here it is, my beauty secret!

The popsicle lip is the carefree version of the Korean gradient lip, also sometimes called the bitten look. It's to invoke the vibe of casual playfulness, freedom to nourish your inner child, no matter what your age.

Step 1: Hold your favourite childhood memory of popsicle fun in your head. Pout and dot your lip tint on the innermost side of your lips (closest to your teeth). Dot only under your Cupid's bow.

Less is more when it comes to this look, build up gradually if you want more colour. There should be a liberating innocence that comes with this look, this is not a time to be formal.

Step 2: Refrain from pressing your lips together before it dries! This is the most common mistake that people make, let it dry by parting your mouth. Lip tints have amazing staying power, they don't contain moisturising oils like lipsticks, they sink into lips instead of stay on top of them.

Step 3: Use your fingers to spread it erratically outwards in all directions, using a pat spread, pat spread repetitive motion. Patting makes the colour sink in, spreading adds whimsical curiosity. Remember to avoid the side of your lips, concentrating colour in the middle.

Step 4: Touch up certain parts for shape, dot sparingly and repeat the pat spread method. It should look like you just ate a popsicle, leaving the corners untouched.

Carry that mood throughout the day, allow yourself to find courage inside vulnerability. Soften into the nostalgia of your best childhood memories, to find curiosity within the pressures of adult life.

When life gets you down, it's amazing how a little lip tint can set the tone for the day. To maintain an optimistic outlook, to keep on believing that life is filled with unlimited opportunities, the universal is conspiring for your success, a lip tint goes a long way.

This is my own custom blend lip tint. I was messing around with my friend's DIY kit and came up with my version of Viva Magenta, inspired by Pantone's 2023 colour of the year.

I'm not great with light or photography so my photos aren't the best, I think it does do an adequate job of showing you what I mean so I'm going to breathe and let go.

I'm still learning in that aspect.

Sometimes, empowerment is knowing it isn't up to your standards yet but you're capable of growth, no pressure.
